FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS:
Is the CD a “book-on-audio”?
No. The CD is completely independent of the book, which will be
released in 2008.
What makes this CD different from the other “grief” CD’s?
“Widows Wear Stilettos: What Now?”
looks at grief from a completely different perspective. Rather than
simply talk about grief (which doesn’t do much to help the healing
process), the CD does several different things:
a. Rather than just deal with “loss” in a general way, the CD
examines the emotions of the young widow, based on her
individual circumstances surrounding the loss (hint: Not all
“widowhood” is the same!);
b. Examines the feelings of guilt, anger, despair…and
how to overcome them all;
c. Takes a close look at how to handle people – and
their opinions.
d. Gives solid, practical financial advice;
e. Teaches how to grieve while helping children as
well.
f. Helps both the newer widow as well as those who
have been widowed for a
longer period of time.
g. Examines the difference between proactive and
reactive coping…and how you
will be able to TAKE CONTROL of your life…
…and that’s just for starters!
Why put out a CD if there are books coming out?
The world of publishing does not move very quickly – and publishers
are the first ones to tell you that. We receive between 800 and
1000 letters weekly from women all over the
world who need help and support NOW and should not have to wait for
the book to get that help. We’re thrilled that we were able to
produce a CD that can help women right now, and then they can then
get Carole’s book when it’s released to continue their education and
their healing journeys.
Is there going to be another CD? If there is, when is it coming out?
Carole does have plans to produce another CD, entitled,
“Widows Wear Stilettos: What Next?” Her new CD is due
out in 2009.
Can I get my CD autographed by Carole before it’s shipped?
Because of the need to protect the CD in the shipping process; our
strict shipping and refund policies as well as the volume of orders
received, CD’s cannot be autographed prior to shipping. However,
Carole DOES autograph CD’s that are either purchased at personal
appearances and speaking engagements (when the purchaser can remove
the overwrap) OR has been previously purchased and is brought along
by the owner for an autograph.
What if I want to buy a CD and I don’t want to use a credit card?
Widows Wear Stilettos
accepts mail orders (check, cashier’s check or money order) and our
mailing address is listed on this page. If you are paying by
personal check, your CD will be shipped as soon as your check has
cleared. DON’T FORGET TO INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS WITH YOUR
MAIL ORDER
Do you ship outside of the United States?
Yes, we ship to anywhere in the world. Widowhood has no geographic
boundaries and neither do we!

COACHING PROGRAMS FOR WIDOWS
AND
ASPIRING AUTHORS
“When you do what you’re taught to do by people who
have gone before you and have already achieved what you are trying
to achieve, your own chances of success increase tremendously –
because they are doing something that you’re not doing…yet!
Simply put, you do not have to “settle” for where you
are,
if where you are is not where you choose to be!”
-Carole Brody Fleet
“YOUR FUTURE HAS ARRIVED”
(FOR WIDOWS)
Carole Brody Fleet
is a widely recognized grief recovery expert who has enjoyed
coaching widows from all over the world since 2006. She has
previously limited her clientele and her unique variety of personal
coaching and guidance to those who have expressly requested personal
coaching as well as to those who have been fortunate to “win” a
coaching session through their participation at
Widows Wear Stilettos.
Due to a sharply increasing demand for coaching by someone who truly
understands all of the thoughts, feelings, emotions, trials,
challenges and issues faced by widows everywhere, Carole and
Widows Wear Stilettos
are pleased to now offer
personal coaching programs to all of our visitors and members;
designed especially for your specific loss situation and based upon
where you are in your individual healing journey.
You may be a brand new widow or you may have been widowed for a
while; you may have questions that no one has been able to answer
for you or that you may have even been afraid to ask at all.
Perhaps you need to learn how to take control of your healing
journey – and can’t quite figure out where to start or how to do
it…or maybe you simply need to talk to and receive guidance and
education from someone who has “been there” and who can understand
and advise you as perhaps no one else surrounding you is able to
do.
While never intended to treat or
diagnose physical or emotional illness while not a substitute for
medical treatment,
coaching can be a wonderful tool and asset to you as you move
forward into a new phase of your life.
A
PERSONAL NOTE FROM CAROLE
“We
will remain the same until the pain of remaining the same becomes
greater than the pain of change”
-Linda Toupin
“Few quotes have touched my heart and my life in the way that this
quote has – because it is so very true.
Where are you right now in your healing journey? Are you a newer
widow who is hurting so badly that opening the curtains in the
morning or brushing your teeth feels like hard labor? Have you been
widowed for a while and feel just plain “stuck”? Do you have a
unique situation or situations surrounding your loss that books and
CD’s may not specifically address? Do you feel like your life has
become a prison sentence – and you haven’t done anything wrong? Are
you ‘sick and tired’ of being ‘sick and tired’ “?
I
know…because I have experienced all of these thoughts and feelings –
and more. I have not only experienced the pain and challenge of
widowhood at a younger age, I have also taken the time to study and
become educated on the phenomenon of grief and more importantly, the
recovery from grief on practical and emotional
levels.
Let me make very clear what I am NOT. I am NOT
a medical professional, psychiatrist, psychologist, or
psychotherapist – and if you have ever worked with me personally,
heard me speak in person or have seen or heard me either “on the
air” or “in print”, you already know that I am the very first person
to recommend seeking professional medical help if you need to do so
– and I will always and forever continue making that recommendation;
including within coaching sessions!
Now - as your personal grief recovery coach:
·
I
am someone to whom you can speak freely, without reservation or fear
of being “judged”. The fact of the matter is that I don’t “shock”
and it is neither my place nor my style to cast judgment in any
respect regarding any situation. Chances are that you’ve dealt with
judgment from someone (or perhaps several “someones”) at least once
since your loss and you need and deserve a safe haven where you can
speak openly, honestly and frankly; without fear of judgment or
recrimination. Welcome to your safe haven.
·
I
am someone of whom you may ask any questions about
anything surrounding your loss experience; from the practical to the
emotional; from the serious to the “lighter side” – and receive
honest, forthright answers to those questions. Whether your loss
was five years ago or five minutes ago, I will have answers for you.
·
I
am someone to whom you can turn for sound, practical advice;
including goal-setting, “next steps”, a sense of direction and a
“roadmap” designed for your unique and particular loss situation. If
your particular situation requires the assistance of an expert (such
as an attorney, medical professional, financial advisor, government
entity, etc.), I will help you determine and locate the appropriate
expert(s) that you need.
I
want you to remember one important thing: I can’t help you start
healing sooner, but I can help you right now - today…
and I can help you with tomorrow. There’s a life out
there that is waiting for you – don’t choose to spend your time
‘waiting for life’! “

“WRITE NOW – RIGHT NOW – THE RIGHT WAY!”
(FOR ASPIRING
AUTHORS / WRITERS)
In addition to providing comprehensive coaching for the widowed,
Carole has expanded her programs to include coaching specifically
designed for those who aspire to a career as an author. Intended
for the new and / or first-time author, Carole draws upon her own
experiences to teach how to navigate the sometimes-intimidating,
occasionally confusing and unpredictable world of book publishing;
or in Carole’s own words, “ learn how to go from ‘unpublished and
unknown’ to ‘unbelievable’ “.
“If you don’t knock on the door – no
one will open it.”
-Gail Snyder
Do you have a story to
tell? An experience to share? An idea that just might
revolutionize the way society thinks?
So did Carole.
In 2005,
Carole Brody Fleet was enjoying a lucrative career in the beauty
industry. She had already been five years on her journey as a young
widow and while having recovered from the grief and pain of the loss
of her husband in 2000; she also knew that there were millions more
like her – women searching for help that was not readily available;
people in pain trying to find answers to questions that most are
afraid to ask; thousands of bereaved feeling out of place and
unfulfilled at support groups and millions more feeling completely
isolated after the loss of a spouse; particularly at a younger age.
Armed with a nothing but an idea that burned brightly in her heart,
a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and a legal pad full of notes - and
with no previous experience in book publishing or having any
“contacts” within the book publishing industry whatsoever, Carole
set out on her journey as a writer. She quickly went from being
completely unknown to becoming a highly respected, sought-after and
award-winning author, grief recovery expert, coach and motivational
speaker. Carole is now a regular presence in the media and is
successfully changing the way the world views widowhood, loss,
overcoming challenges, tragedies and life difficulty – one person at
a time.
Carole is also an instructor for The Learning Annex in Los
Angeles, California (Online Division); teaching courses in securing
literary representation as well as how to differentiate between the
many terms used and requests made by agents and publishers. In
individual coaching sessions, she provides personalized advice,
valuable knowledge and most importantly, the same “what now
and what next” sense of direction that she provides to
the widows with whom she works.
Carole is passionate about sharing her knowledge, experience and
advice with others who aspire to careers in authorship and writing.
Among the many things that you will learn are:
-
“From Concept to Contract: 45 Days to a Literary Agent”
Carole wrote her first book in four months and only forty-five days
after she began the querying process, she was signed by a literary
agency. A mere six months thereafter, Carole was recognized as a
respected writer, expert and speaker; appearing in national media as
well as a contributing author to two forthcoming books. What did
she do? How did she do it? Where did she start? Learn the
exact
steps
that
Carole took to secure a contract with a literary agency, which
subsequently sold her book to a major publisher.
-
“What All Agents Want to See…and What No Agent Wants to
See!”
A
literary agent is your “doorway” to a publishing contract. You have
only one chance to make a first impression on a
literary agent; someone who likely receives hundreds or even
thousands of queries from prospective authors every single
month. Avoid the dreaded “slush pile”! Learn what literary
agents want you to send to them (hint: there is NO room for error!)
as well as what absolutely no agent wants to
receive.
-
“Separating the ‘Scam’ from the ‘Sincere’: What Every Author Needs
to Know.”
As
with virtually every other industry, the world of publishing is not
exempt from those who prey on the hopes and dreams of the
inexperienced author; with little regard to propriety, ethics or
integrity. Learn what to watch out for when querying and ultimately
selecting a literary agency – and eventually, a publisher.
-
“Queries,
Proposals; Synopses, Samples and the “Language” of Publishing: Why
You Need to Know the Difference”
What
is the difference between a query and a proposal? What about
synopses and sample chapters? Be prepared for when an agent or
publisher asks you for any one (or all!) of these things; it could
mean the difference between “contract” and “can’t believe I was
rejected”.
-
“ ‘Hey, Over Here’: How to Get Your Agent’s Attention…and Keep
It!”
You’ve landed a literary agent – congratulations! However, you are
only one among many clients in that agency. How do you get your
agent’s attention? What is proper author “etiquette” in working
with your agent? Avoid becoming the dreaded “CFH” (Client from
Hell) and learn not only how to get and keep an agent’s attention,
but also how to become a “Dream Client” as well.
-
“Manuscripts, Marketing and Money: Why Your Job Doesn’t End with
‘The End’ “
One
of the most common myths that authors believe is that once they have
finished their book, it’s time to sit back, relax and let the
publisher promote their book, get them on major television shows,
land them on best-seller lists and watch the money roll in. Don’t
you believe it! As a new author, once you have typed, “The End”,
your job has only just begun. Learn about the immediate “next
steps” to take after your manuscript is complete – including the
name of the greatest publicist in the world.
-
“Building a Solid Platform Fast: No Hammer Needed!”
What
is a “platform”? No, it is not something that you
either stand on or from which you dive – not in the writing world!
Furthermore, it’s one of the first things that you will be asked
about by virtually every single literary agent and publisher. Learn
all about platforms and how to begin building yours fast!

COACHING FAQ’S
What is “coaching” and how do I know
if it’s right for me?
The definition of a life coach is, “a
person whose job it is to improve the quality of his or her client's
life, by offering advice on professional and personal matters, such
as careers, health, personal relationships, etc.”
[Collins
Essential English Dictionary 2nd Edition 2006 © HarperCollins
Publishers 2004, 2006]
In her coaching programs, Carole’s primary objective is
to educate and ultimately enrich the lives of her clients by closely
examining their own unique life situation, defining their individual
set of goals; giving advice and suggestions based upon personal
knowledge and / or experience; education and opinion and in certain
cases, providing “homework” for the client to accomplish. She works
closely and compassionately with each client; helping them to reach
solutions with which they will be comfortable and achieve their
goals of living a life filled with hope, peace and abundance.
The best way to determine if coaching is right for you
is to participate in a one-time 30 minute session to see if you feel
that coaching will help you move ahead in your life in whatever way
you wish.
How much does coaching cost?
For a complete fee schedule and / or to enroll and receive your
Coaching Agreement and New Client Questionnaire, please email
Carole@widowswearstilettos.com and specify “Coaching
Information Request” in the subject line.
What happens once I enroll?
Once you enroll and provide payment information, you will be sent a
Coaching Agreement to sign electronically and return; along with a
short New Client Questionnaire to complete. The questionnaire
enables Carole to familiarize herself with you, your particular
situation and your needs; both immediate and long-term. She is then
able provide you with the very best ideas, suggestions and
solutions; based upon your responses.
All coaching is conducted over the telephone and Carole will call
you personally, regardless of your geographic location – you will
never have to pay for long distance telephone
calls. All coaching sessions are completely confidential. We
generally recommend that you have a list of questions ready for your
session(s), so that you can maximize your time spent with Carole.
What can I expect from my coaching
experience?
Expect to be treated like the unique individual you
are. You will be listened to, coached and advised based on
your individual situation – there is no “one size fits all”
in coaching. You will be treated with compassion, respect and
understanding - and you just may even find yourself laughing once or
twice!
FAQ’S FOR WIDOWS
I’m a widow. Can’t I just get what I
need for from Carole’s book and CD?
Both the book and CD are necessary and excellent tools to have on
hand and it is entirely possible that everything that you need for
your healing journey is contained in the book and on the CD.
However, it is impossible to address every single individual
situation, scenario or question in a book or on a CD; since
everyone’s loss experience is unique. You may likely have unusual
or unique situations or questions that need to be addressed in
addition to the information you will find in the book and on the
CD – that is where personal coaching can come in. It’s simply
another tool in your “healing arsenal”.
How long will I need coaching?
That is totally up to you. Carole’s recommendation is that you
schedule one 30-minute session to see if coaching is for you. You
can then make a better determination as to how long you wish to
participate in coaching.
I’ve been widowed for a long time and I’m still not over my loss.
Can coaching help me?
Absolutely! If you feel “stuck” on your healing
journey, coaching may be just what you need to help you either start
or continue moving forward.
What’s the difference between coaching and going to a doctor or a
therapist?
As stated above, Carole is not a medical
professional and is always very quick to refer those who may need
professional help to the appropriate experts. If she senses that a
client is in need of the help of a physician or mental health
professional, she will make that recommendation immediately.
However, many widows simply need guidance, tips, education,
goal-setting or as Carole likes to say, a “roadmap” to help outline
and define how to move forward after the loss of a spouse. That’s
where coaching from a knowledgeable grief expert can prove
invaluable.
Does Carole coach widows in groups?
In order to provide highly individualized attention and
in order to protect each client’s confidentiality, privacy and
individual situation, all of Carole’s coaching programs are
one-on-one only. Carole does conduct workshops and makes
appearances at support groups. If you are interested in having
Carole conduct a workshop or any kind of group event, please email
Carole@widowswearstilettos.com and specify “Personal
Appearance” in the subject line.
FAQ’S FOR ASPIRING AUTHORS
I
have written a book and I don’t know what to do next. Can Carole
help me?
Yes! Step-by-step, Carole will guide you through the
specific methods that she herself used to go from “unknown and
unpublished” to where she is today.
Can I get what I need from Carole’s courses at The Learning Annex?
You will learn a great deal from Carole’s two courses at
The Learning Annex, which will become available online at the
end of October, 2008. However, for more personalized attention to
your individual situation, you may wish to consider personal
coaching along with The Learning Annex courses.
Can Carole proofread my book for me?
Carole does not read manuscripts; nor does she edit, “doctor”,
proofread or work directly with manuscripts.
I
have a great idea for a book, but I’m not good at writing. Does
Carole “ghost write”?
Carole is not a “ghost writer”; nor does she provide
specific “how-to” writing instruction. Her coaching program
includes education, instruction and advice for those who have
already written a book or plan to write a book and hope to become
published. If you are interested in locating a ghost writer, there
are many excellent professional ghost writers and firms that you can
locate through any search engine on the Internet.
Can I get a personal recommendation to agents or publishers from
Carole?
Carole’s coaching program includes specific and
comprehensive instruction and direction as to finding
representation; including how to prepare for and query literary
agents; how to follow up effectively using proper protocol and
etiquette, how to determine if an agent is appropriate for your
project, etc. However, Carole does not write letters of reference
or otherwise make specific recommendations to agents and / or
publishers on behalf of any client.
If you have a specific question that has not been addressed in the
FAQ’s, please forward your question to
Carole@widowswearstilettos.com and specify “Coaching
Question” in the subject line.
